The first three parts of the Indiana Jones series were mostly good reviews. Among other things, they received a total of six Oscars and eleven Oscar nominations. The American Film Institute sees Indiana Jones after all, come on position 60 of the best American films of all time, with the figure of Indiana Jones # 2 in the biggest movie heroes. In 1999, the first part in the National Film Registry has been introduced, which is used to preserve most important American films.

Only the last film of the series "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" got too many bad reviews. Typical of the bad reviews he received only the Golden Raspberry award as "Worst Sequel."
